White Oak bark is a strong astringent and antiseptic. It precipitates the tissue protein to tighten them. Internal uses: It has an cleansing effect on inflamed surfaces of the skin or mucous membranes. It has been used for excess mucous with common complaints such as sinus congestion and post-nasal drip. It strengthens loose teeth. It has been able to stop bleeding in the stomach, liver, lungs and bowels. It may be used for diarrhea, dysentery, goiter, hemorrhoids, menstrual problems with excessive bleeding, hematuria, internal hemorrhaging, diarrhea, low grade fever, ulcerated bladder, goiter, neck problems, gallstones and kidney stones. Also been used to treat Crohns disease, varicose veins and cancer.  External uses: It has been used for hemorrhoids, varicose veins, gargle/mouthwash for throat and mouth, leucorrhea, for burns, sores, skin irritations, bee stings, bruises, injuries, swollen tissues, bleeding and to strengthen a loosened tooth and eczema.
